First science order in Japan

UPPSALA, SWEDEN, APRIL 3RD, 2019. SCANDINOVA SYSTEMS AB, A WORLD LEADER IN NEW GENERATION PULSED POWER SYSTEMS, HAS SIGNED AN AGREEMENT FOR THE DELIVERY OF A SOLID-STATE, HIGH-VOLTAGE KLYSTRON MODULATOR FROM HIGH ENERGY ACCELERATOR RESEARCH ORGANIZATION (KEK) IN JAPAN.

The modulator will be driving a 2856MHz, 10MW peak power klystron. The intended use of this modulator is to provide high pulsed RF power to the Resonant Ring (RR)*1. The delivery of the modulator of product model K100, has been completed to KEK on March 26, 2019. Commissioning is scheduled for May or June 2019.

To strengthen its local presence on the important Japanese market, ScandiNova established a Japanese subsidiary, ScandiNova Systems K.K, in March 2018. This is ScandiNova’s first order from a scientific National lab in Japan.

-We are honoured to receive this prestigious order from KEK. This is an important step for ScandiNova to build cooperative relationships with Japanese organisations in the scientific research field, says Osamu Yushiro, CEO, ScandiNova Systems K.K.

*1) RR is a unique technology which has been developed/ tested at KEK and has proven to boost the RF power more than 10 times higher with the same pulse length. RR is used to test RF components for the superKEKB electron-positron collider. (courtesy KEK)
