ScandiNova launches turnkey RF unit with fully integrated Libera LLRF

Industry-first Closed-Loop LLRF, developed with Instrumentation Technologies

ScandiNova Systems, part of Nodica Group AB (“ScandiNova”), a global leader in high-voltage pulsed power systems, today announces the launch of its first turn-key RF unit featuring fully integrated Libera LLRF (Low-Level RF).

The launch marks the result of a long-term collaboration between ScandiNova and Instrumentation Technologies, one of the world’s leading providers of instruments used for high-speed signal acquisition and processing.

This unique RF solution is ready for direct integration into LINAC systems, delivering optimized RF performance and greater flexibility in modifying the RF pulse. The solution will be offered as a standard configuration in all future deliveries of ScandiNova’s RF units.

The new RF unit provides precise LLRF control by measuring high-power signals at multiple points along the RF waveguide chain. The RF unit includes:

  • A ScandiNova modulator equipped with an RF amplifier and klystron
  • The Libera LLRF system, supporting up to 26 RF input channels
  • All necessary RF and waveguide components, including directional couplers, power splitters, and cables
  • An optional master oscillator, external interlocks, and trigger generator
  • A fast interlock system triggered by reflected power, ensuring system protection

This mechanical, electrical, and software integration enables seamless installation into LINAC systems, eliminating the need for complex on-site coordination and significantly reducing commissioning time.
